A number of youths have had alcohol confiscated to clamp down on anti-social behaviour in Lingwood.

Officers from the Acle Safer Neighbourhood Team have carried out extra patrols at the Recreation Ground to cut noise nuisance and off road riding, which was reported to police by members of the community.

The SNT has acted on the publics concerns by adopting the issue as a priority and carrying out action to resolve the issues.

In addition to extra patrols, a minority of youths have been spoken to about their level and amount of noise, alcohol has been seized, moped users have been spoken to about using their bikes and where they can and can not park and letters have been sent to a number of parents about their child’s behaviour in a residential area.

Sgt Julia Sandell said: “By confiscating alcohol from underage drinkers we hoped to reduce the number of calls and complaints received from the public about anti-social behaviour, caused by a minority of youths, at the Recreation Ground”.

Officers will continue to monitor the area as part of their regular duties but no longer class the area as a policing priority.
