Youths & police united through football

Reepham officers went head to head with youths from the local
community at the second annual charity football match held at the
weekend.
The match between the police and the youths was organised to
raise money for charity and to build bridges between police and the
youngsters.
During the first half, the youths scored the first goal, which
was shortly followed by police equalising the score to one all at
half time. The second half was tense, with the police scoring three
goals against one by the youths. The final score was 4-2 to the
police.
The game was played in good spirit and was enjoyed by all
players involved.
Police Community Support Officer Stephen Bridges said: “This
demonstrates how sport can be used to bring everyone together and
improve the communication within the community. The match was
enjoyed by everyone and I am sure we will be challenged to another
match next year”.
After the match a raffle, auction and BBQ were held which helped
to raise £810.00 which will be donated to CLIC Sargent and
MacMillian Nurses.
The match and after event would not have been a success without
the help of the following people:
- Olly Abel
- Deborah and Danny Abel
- Friends and family donating prizes for the raffle and making
cakes to be sold on the day
- Bell PH for donating BBQ food
- Local businesses in the Cawston/Reepham and surrounding area
donating prizes
- Kay Swann Headmistress of Cawston Primary School
- Most of all, the players for giving up their free time to
play
