Teenagers admit robbing boy
28 November 2012
Two teenagers who robbed a 10-year-old boy in Thorpe St Andrew
have each been given 12-month referral orders.
The boys, aged 13, appeared at Norwich Youth Court earlier this
month following the incident on 17 August.
It happened near to the Fitzmaurice Pavilion in Pound Lane when
the victim, now aged 11, was approached by the two youths who
assaulted him before stealing his mobile phone and mountain
bike.
Prior to this incident both teens, who cannot be identified for
legal reasons, had tried to steal property from other children in
the area but had failed in their attempts.
Both admitted one count of robbery, attempted robbery, and one
boy pleaded guilty to theft of a pedal cycle. They were each given
a 12-month referral to the Youth Offender Team and ordered to pay a
total of £140 each in compensation.
Investigating officer, PC Steve Harrowing, said: “I’m pleased
both youths have been dealt with at court. This wouldn’t have been
possible without the help of the public, whose response to our
witness appeal proved crucial in identifying those
responsible.”
