Step 1: Self-selection
Before you apply, you need to check that the lines are open for
recruitment and you are eligible to be a police officer.
Step 2: Application
If you are eligible, you can complete the application form on-line
on the Police
Could You website.
Step 3: Papersift
Your application will go through a formal papersift process.
This will include marking your competency-based answers.
Step 4: Assessment centre
If successful, you will next attend the Assessment Centre
for half a day. This is held at either Wyboston in
Bedfordshire or Martlesham Heath in Suffolk. It consists of four
main elements: interactive, written, interview and psychometric
tests.
Step 5: Fitness assessment
If successful, you will then be invited to attend a fitness
assessment which is carried out at our headquarters in Wymondham.
It consists of a dynamic strength test and an endurance
fitness test. You will be notified of the result on the day.
Step 6: Final board interviews
If you are
successful in obtaining the relevant pass mark at the Assessment
Centre you will be invited to attend a final board interview. This
interview will be with an interview panel and will include a 10
minute presentation, by you, on a given subject.
Step 7: Security vetting and
referencing
If successful at the final Board
interview, a comprehensive security vetting will be undertaken,
together with taking up references (current employer references
will not be taken at this stage, unless you specify that they can
be).
Step 8: Medical assessment / uniform
fitting
The medical assessment is carried out at our
headquarters in Wymondham and will include a full medical
examination and eyesight test. If you have passed your interview
and medical, you will be invited to a uniform fitting and

formal training as a Student Officer.
