PCSO - What happens once you apply?
Step 1: Shortlisting
Your completed
application will be shortlisted against the criteria within the
role profile which will have been sent to you with your application
form.
Step 2: Police Initial Recruitment (PIR)
test
You will be invited to the Operations and Communications Centre
(OCC) at Wymondham to sit the test which lasts approximately 1 1/2
to 2 hours. You will receive practice questions beforehand to
prepare you for it.
Step 3: Fitness Assessment
If successful, you will then be invited to attend a fitness
assessment which is carried out at our headquarters in Wymondham.
It consists of a dynamic strength test and an endurance fitness
test. You will be notified of the result on the day.
Step 4: Interview
If you pass the PIR and Fitness tests, you will be invited to
attend an interview. Prior to the interview we will send you a copy
of our Vision, Mission and Values and the PCSO role profile so that
you can prepare for it. The questions we ask you will be based on
the criteria listed in the role profile. Interviews will be held at
the OCC in Wymondham.
Step 5: Full medical and uniform fitting
If you pass the interview, you will be invited to attend a medical
and uniform fitting (normally on the same day) at the Operations
and Communications Centre in Wymondham. The medical usually takes
one hour and the uniform fitting takes 30 minutes.
Step 6: 18 Week training course
Provided you pass the medical examination, received your security
clearance and satisfactory references, we will confirm your
appointment and arrange your training date.
