A Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) is an asset to local policing, often the first point of contact with the public and providing direct access to police services.

Introduced in 2003, PCSOs engage with the community, go out on patrol in local areas, prepare and process incident paperwork, prepare and obtain witness statements, and attend court to give evidence if required.
