As a condition of entry into the United Kingdom, or as a condition to remain, certain foreign nationals are required to register with the police in whose area they are to reside within seven days of arrival.

NOTE - only Foreign Nationals who are 16 years of age and over are required to register. If under 16 years old and the VISA shows a requirement to register, they should only register when they reach the age of 16.

In the absence of a passport, the requirement to register with the police will be endorsed in correspondence or documentation supplied to the foreign national by either UKIS or HOIND.

A foreign national who is registered with the police is issued with a Police Registration Certificate (PRC). In addition, the subject's passport is endorsed with the PRC number and date-stamped.
