Getting accredited
Applications to become part of the Community Safety
Accreditation Scheme are welcomed from organisations in the public
and private sectors in accordance with the guidelines of the
scheme.
Accreditation is a staged process:
- An initial assessment is made to ensure the scheme is
appropriate for the circumstances of the application and that the
application is in accordance with legislation and local
guidelines.
- The next stage is the approval of the organisation itself. For
the employer to obtain accreditation it is necessary for them to
demonstrate that it is a fit and proper organisation to supervise
employees in carrying out the functions for which the accreditation
is to be granted.
- A charge is payable for this process.
- Individuals employed by an approved organisation then need to
seek accreditation. This is to ensure that they are suitable people
to exercise the powers that are to be conferred upon them and that
they are capable of effectively carrying out the functions for the
purpose of which these powers are being conferred.
Norfolk Constabulary will undertake a vetting and interview process
for each person seeking accreditation. A charge is payable for this
process.
Finally, employers will arrange for adequate training, approved
by the Norfolk Constabulary, for each accredited person. The
training will vary according to the role that the individual
accredited person performs and the powers that they have been
granted. Training will be carried out by an approved training
organisation.
