Alison Ings
Alison Ings qualified as a solicitor in 1988 and took up the
role of Solicitor (Police) within the Norfolk County Council Legal
Services Department.
As well as providing legal advice and representation to Norfolk
Constabulary, she also advised the Norfolk Fire Service and
undertook prosecutions on behalf of the Broads Authority and the
county council.
In 1999, Alison Ings set up the in-house Force Legal Services
Department.
The department now has five lawyers and two support staff who
provide a comprehensive legal service to the Force dealing with
diverse issues such as civil actions against the police, police
misconduct, civil orders and operational policing advice.
Alison Ings is a member of the Association of Police Lawyers and
is the Secretary of the Association’s Practice Management
Sub-Committee.
