Assistant Chief Constable Kevin Wilkins

Kevin Wilkins began his career with Norfolk Constabulary in 1976 and has a wide experience of both urban and rural operational policing in the county having undertaken a variety of roles at all levels.

He started his career as a police constable in Swaffham before moving to Norwich, Thetford, and then Great Yarmouth. He was promoted through the ranks reaching the level of Superintendent in 1995 when he took charge of the Community Relations Department. He was then appointed as the Southern Divisional Commander based at Thetford.

In 1999, Kevin was appointed to lead a fundamental review of Norfolk Constabulary, which resulted in a new policing structure and re-focused policing style from April 2000. In 2000 he was promoted to Chief Superintendent and took command of the newly-formed Eastern Area covering Great Yarmouth, North Norfolk and Broadland.

He was selected for the Strategic Command Course, based at the Police College, Bramshill, which he successfully completed in 2002 and was awarded a Diploma in Applied Criminology and Police Studies from Cambridge University. He also holds a degree in Social Science.

In October 2005 he was appointed Assistant Chief Constable and has the responsibility for local policing, criminal justice and royalty/VIP protection.

  • ACPO lead on Youth Justice
  • Eastern Region representative of ACPO’s CYPBA
  • Regional representative of the Chief Police Officers Staff Association (CPOSA). 
  • A governor of the Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust
  • Chairman of the Norfolk Constabulary Sports and Social Club 
  • Chairman of Norfolk Constabulary Benevolent Fund
