The Support Services Department comes under the portfolio of the Assistant Chief Officer Resources and provides direct support to the 3 Operational Policing Commands and other Organisational Support Departments.

 

It is organised into the following 7 specialist units:

Fleet Services

• Management of the Force Vehicle Fleet of over 400 operational vehicles, comprising a range of Response, Neighbourhood Policing Team and specialist vehicles.
• Servicing and repair of vehicles in 3 workshops at: Wymondham, Kings Lynn and  Great Yarmouth
• Managing the operational deployment of the vehicle fleet  

Estates Services
Managing all aspects of the Police Estate, including:

• Reactive and Planned Maintenance
• Acquisitions and Disposals, as approved by the Police Authority Capital Assets Committee
• Implementing the Force Long Term Estates Strategy – a 5 to 10 year rationalisation and modernisation of the Estate
• Provision of Estates Professional Services

 

Facilities Services
Provision of Facilities Services, including:

• Management of corporate contracts for Total Facilities Management- Cleaning, waste disposal, grounds maintenance, catering, and other specialist services
• Management of the Headquarters Private Finance Initiative Agreement and it’s Facilities Hard and Soft Services
• Management of Force Accommodation
• Management of Evidential Property Management
• Delivery of the Force Sustainability and Environmental Strategies

 

Uniform Supplies and Services

• Provision of uniform and personal equipment supplies and services to all Police Officers, Special Constables, Police Community Support Officers and Uniformed Police Staff
• Initial kitting of all new recruits and routine replacement of uniform garments
• Provision of tailoring services
• Management of Force uniform contract

 

Health and Safety Services
Delivery of a Health and Safety Service for the Force, including:

• Force Health and Safety Policy
• Force Health and Safety Committee and Measuring Performance
• Health and Safety Management and Control Systems
• Management of Risk, including Risk Control Performance Indicators
• Operational Risk
• Risk Assessments

 

Operations Support to the County Delivery Unit

Operations Support to Protective Services Command, Contact and Control Room and Partnerships Command and Citizen Focus Department
