The Photographic and Imaging unit is a small dedicated team, committed to providing an efficient and effective service to our police officer and police staff colleagues across the county. Our photographers are trained to a very high standard and are recruited from within the industry with a minimum of five years practical experience in a commercial environment and preferably qualified to HND/Degree level.

Training within the department is ongoing and is up to date with advances in digital technology. We have a fully-equipped laboratory and studios with the facility to work with both conventional film and any digital media. This ensures a professional standard is maintained for all non-operational and operational work and enables evidence to be captured under controlled conditions.

The unit conducts: training for all new Crime Scene Investigators; regular workshops concentrating on specific aspects and techniques of photography; and dedicated training packages to assist other users of photography to ensure procedures and standards are maintained.

In addition to evidential photography support, the unit also provides photographers to cover publicity and community events such as the annual Gala Day, awards ceremonies and various advertising and policing campaigns.
