Our Forensic Investigation department is nationally renowned, highly-accredited, and identifies hundreds of criminals every year.

It is responsible for collecting evidence at the scene of a crime and then undertaking a range of specialist processes to identify suspects.

The department is nationally-recognised as one of the top performers in the forensic field and Norfolk is one of only a few forces to be graded as 'Excellent' by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary. During a recent independent assessment by the Home Office, Norfolk Constabulary also came out top for forensic detections (from both DNA and fingerprints). The department was also one of the first in the UK to achieve ISO 9001 quality accreditation.

Norfolk Forensic Investigation staff deal with over 15,000 crimes per year. They identify over 1,500 individuals per year through fingerprints and over 500 through the use of DNA.
