Digital Capture System
The Digital Capture System (DCS) is an all-in-one digital
capture device. It retains the best features of a conventional
digital camera but is linked to an electronic enhancement facility.
The system uses specialist software to ensure accurate recording of
an image without affecting the original item. The software includes
an image authenticity facility that guarantees the integrity of any
image captured.
In the main the system is used to record fingerprints developed
on items that are chemically treated in the fingerprint
laboratory but is also used for macro-photography such as
recording striation marks on small items and also for shoe marks
and documents. The system provides a direct link to the Fingerprint Bureau's
Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (IDENT1) which allows fingerprint experts
immediate access to a captured image for suspect comparison.
