A range of simple personal protection items are offered for sale at police Public Enquiry Offices.

This scheme is run by the Norfolk charity Norfolk Partners Against Crime Taskforce (PACT).

This limited range of security products is available to all Norfolk residents to purchase. The personal attack alarms are tested so they reach the Secured by Design standard.

There are several designs of personal attack alarms available to suit your requirements.

• A keyring alarm can be attached to your house or car keys and includes a small light.
• A wrist alarm can be worn, a mobile phone alarm attaches to the back of your mobile phone.
• A small purse alarm clips onto your phone and handbag.

Any of these products could be carried and used if you feel threatened. Don’t think that no one will hear it,.

The purpose of an alarm is to scare off the intruder/attacker, they are not expecting this reaction and it will give you a few seconds to make your escape.

Purse security bells can be attached to your purse so if it is tampered with in your bag you will be alerted by the noise, so will the thief and they will leave the purse and make good their escape.

Marked property is hot property

Property marking products start with UV pens which can be used on many household items.

You should put your post code and house name/number on the items so they can be readily identified as yours.
